under the stars and in the grass.

About `Iolani Palace
`Iolani Palace is the only royal palace in the United States and was
commissioned as the official palace of the Hawaiian monarchy upon its
construction in 1882. King Kalakaua envisioned a royal palace befitting of his
sovereign nation that would rival the other grand palaces of Europe. `Iolani
Palace features architecture seen nowhere else in the world, in a style
called American Florentine.
Fun fact
The Palace had electricity and telephones installed before the White House.
We chose this site for our wedding because of the beauty of the grounds and our
appreciation for the architecture of the Palace. Located in downtown Honolulu,
it serves as a nice retreat from the hustle and bustle of the busy workday. We
like to visit to walk around and soak in its surroundings and
rich cultural significance.
